A Tragedy

An unexpected event occurred at 3:15 am (Malaysia time) 26032006.
My grandparents' house in Sungai Baru, Kedah was on fire! This was due to short circuit.
Except for the concrete kitchen, other areas of the house were completely burnt. None of their possessions could be saved.
We, all family members, are grateful that Tok and Tok Wan are safe.
It is a tragedy that no one will ever forget. Raya celebration (Eid) will never be the same.
I do not know exactly when the house was built, but it has been there, stood proud for over 40 years.
Another traditional Malay house has gone. Is this how we want our heritage to end?
Moral of the story is: please ensure that before you go to sleep, all plugs have been unplugged. It is extremely dangerous. Although most of the times we may think it is safe, there is no harm of double-checking. It is better to be safe than sorry.

To Cambridge We Go!

Saturday, 18th March 2006:
Abah, Aizad, Aiman and I went to Cambridge to visit cousin Luqman, who is currently doing his masters at Cambridge University.
We gave him a surprise by throwing a brithday 'party'  His birthday was on the day before. So was my other cousin Shikin's. Happy Birthday to both of you!
We brought food (mihun goreng ) and drinks, and of course including a chocolate cake 
After that, we all went for a walk around Cambridge, which was absolutely fun! It was sunny and cold on that day by the way. I have composed some photos for your viewing. Isn't Cambridge beautiful? 
Also, on 18th March, it was Connie's 21st Birthday. Otanjyoubi omedetou!

Honestly, it is becoming difficult for me to find any material to put on fotopages  Therefore when Kaoru decided to visit the site again, I instantly said "I wanna come too !" and of course, I brought my camera with me.
No class on thursday and so it is usually the day when we get to 'go out.' In the morning Kaoru and I spent a little time on finding Brookes' allotment area at Headington Hill. I noticed that loads of flowers are starting to bloom (meaning spring is near!!!!!!). Anyway, then we walked to the site and took a few photos. It was ridiculously cold .
We walked again to the city centre to buy some materials for our site model workshop tomorrow. Because we were getting hungry, we stopped at makudonarudo a.k.a. McDonald's
We did a little bit of window shopping before we actually went to the art shop to buy the materials. Somehow along the way back to the bus stop, we met Connie, and that was when she asked us to come with her to some interior shops not far away. We spent another 2-3 hours at city centre to make the long story short
Another looooong day, but at the same time, quite fun too. Maybe someday we can do it again

Frankly, I was thrilled to post the birthday photos as soon as possible, but this week is one of those weeks when I spend little time at home.
These are some of the photos taken on Sunday March the 5th I officially turned 20 on that day. The big two-o as Kak Nad said to me. Nonetheless, I prefer Abah's way, which is 19+1
Thank you again everyone. It has been wonderful!
Here I would also like to wish CONGRATULATIONS to Kak Eda and Nash on their new born baby, Adam Harris. Tahniah!!!!!! Also to Kak Sara coz you're an aunt now!!

And it came...
|
|
FINALLY it snowed in Oxford!!! It was on and off, but still it pitched! Did not have the time and energy to go all the way to Angel Meadow to take photos and so I took some in front of my house and also some on my way to university.
I was so thrilled about the snow that at one point I was out of ideas on the subjects  So yeah...you'll be looking at random stuff
